My New York City: Places

Hello everyone!!
Today for some reason many things were happening randomly that made me think of NYC and how much I miss it and look forward to visiting it again (hopefully a little later this year :) ).
So, thinking about it, I wanted to show you some of the places I love there. It's not even a smallest part of them of course, but some of those are special to me in some ways :)
The Part I of Places you can find here ;)

1. This cute bull, that attracts many tourist who for some reason want to take pictures not in front of him, but.... from the back side with all of its visible private parts "for snapshots under an unmistakable symbol of its virility." <:D

Charging Bull, which is sometimes referred to as the Wall Street Bull or the Bowling Green Bull, is a 3,200 kg bronze sculpture by Arturo Di Modica that stands in Bowling Green Park near Wall Street in Manhattan, New York City. Standing 3.4 m tall and measuring 4.9 m long, the oversize sculpture depicts a bull, the symbol of aggressive financial optimism and prosperity, leaning back on its haunches and with its head lowered as if ready to charge. The sculpture is both a popular tourist destination which draws thousands of people a day, as well as "one of the most iconic images of New York" and a "Wall Street icon" symbolizing "Wall Street" and the Financial District.
"People on The Street say you've got to rub the nose, horns and testicles of the bull for good luck".

2. I am a huge FRIENDS fan and I was dying to see the building where they supposedly "lived". Yes, I did say "supposedly", because no matter how funny it sounds, but Friends was never shot in New York! ;)
(The first season was shot on Stage 5 at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California. At the beginning of the second season, production moved to the larger Stage 24, which was renamed "The Friends Stage" after the series finale. The fourth season finale was shot on location in London. The fifth season finale, set in Las Vegas, was filmed at Warner Bros. Studios.)
But here's the famous Greenwich Village building, 90 Bedford Street, used as the friends' apartment block in establishing shots. The building is located on the Bedford St & Grove St corner in Greenwich Village, a nice quiet area in the south-west of Manhattan.
3. There's nothing more picturesque than skating in Central Park. The Trump Wollman Rink is located near the east side of the Park, just steps away from the Central Park Zoo and The Plaza Hotel. The rink offers ice hockey, a skating school, and party facilities. The rink, open from late October to early April, is less than a five-minute walk from the south entrance of W. 59th Street and 6th Avenue. During the summer months, fun on the ice is transformed into a venue for other purposes. The rink had for many years been the venue for a series of outdoor summer rock concerts. Wollman Rink no longer hosts concerts, but in the summer it contains the Victorian Gardens Amusement Park.

4. Times Square
I did blog about it some time ago here, but this time it's not about the square itself, but about some things you can randomly bump into just passing by.
Like this huge screen put up by Forever 21 in summer 2010 right above its Times Square store to probably get people's attention. And you know what - I'm sure it worked, because people could stand there for hours looking at it, trying to find themselves!

"The augmented reality billboard using video of a model dressed in Forever21 clothes to take a virtual photo of you in a crowd (and occasionally selecting people, picking them up and throwing them into a Forever21 bag). Using spy-esk technology (that provides data on each person in the camera view), some serious computer grunt and a very HD video camera, the augmented reality software identifies and pulls out a person in real time to composite them into the interactions with the model taking the photo." P.S. After few minutes staring at the screen and waving, me and my friend Sarah found ourselves :)

Hope you had fun! ;)
