Step Back In Time: 2000 In Music (Part I)

Hello hello!
Do you remember 2000's?? Do you miss it sometimes?? I do, so here's a little flashback to some of the songs that became biggest hits in year 2000. Step Back In Time as Kylie says ;)

"Spinning Around" by Kylie Minogue - written by Ira Shickman, Osborne Bingham, Kara DioGuardi, and Paula Abdul, and produced by Mike Spencer. Musically, the song is a dance song with strong disco influences. Through the lyrics, Minogue declares that she is not the same person as before, and that she has reinvented herself.

"It's My Life" is Bon Jovi's first single from the album Crush. It was written by Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, and Max Martin. The song hit #1 across several countries and became one of the best selling singles of 2000.

"Beautiful Day" is a song by the rock band U2. It is the first track from their 2000 album, All That You Can't Leave Behind, and it was released as the album's lead single. Lead vocalist Bono explained that the upbeat track is about losing everything but still finding joy in what you have. The sibgle also became one of the best sellers of 2000 Worldwide.

"The Real Slim Shady" is a hip hop song written by Eminem for his third studio album The Marshall Mathers LP (2000). It was released as the lead single a week before the album's release. The song was the 11th best selling of 2000 in the UK. It won multiple awards, including MTV Video Music Awards for Best Video and Best Male Video, as well as a Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance.

"Kids" is a duet by Robbie Williams and Kylie Minogue, released as the second single from Sing When You're Winning, Williams' fourth studio album. It was also included on Minogue's eighth studio album Light Years. It was released in October 2000. Williams and then songwriting partner Guy Chambers co-wrote the song for Minogue. Williams liked the song enough to turn it into a duet. The track was written when Minogue approached Williams to write her some songs for what would be her first album under Parlophone, Light Years, it was then, when Williams felt the chemistry and decided to include the track on his album and release it as a single, it was an instant hit when it was released in October of that year. (was just watching it on MTV ;) ). Robbie's Rock DJ was also released in 2000 and was one of the best selling singles of 2000.

Of course, Britney's star-time with "Oops... I did it again" was written and produced by Max Martin and Rami for Spears' second studio album, Oops!... I Did It Again (2000). It was released on March 27, 2000 by Jive Records, as the first single from the album. "Oops!... I Did It Again" is a teen pop song, that speaks about a girl who thinks love is a game and plays with her lover's emotions, claiming that she's "not that innocent". The song's bridge features a dialogue that makes reference to the James Cameron movie Titanic (1997).

Not my favorite after Ray Of Light album, but it deserves to be mentioned for biggest hits in 2000: "Music" is the first single by American singer-songwriter Madonna from her 8th studio album Music and was released on August 21, 2000, by Maverick Records. It was her first single to reach number one single in the United States after 1994's "Take a Bow". "Music" remains Madonna's final US number one to date.

Love love love this one still! It's "Say My Name" by Destiny's Child. The song was the third single from the group's 1999 album The Writing's on the Wall, released through Columbia label in 2000. The single is the most successful of the four releases from the album and is considered to be one of their signature songs. The song won awards for "Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals" and "Best R&B Song" and two was nominated for "Record of the Year" and "Song of the Year" at the 2001 Grammy Awards and at MTV Video Music Award. It is the first single to introduce the second lineup featuring newly added members Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin. However, their vocals are not present on the single.

Girls!!! "Be with You" by Enrique Iglesias. It was co-written by Iglesias and, produced by Mark Taylor and Brian Rawling, the team responsible for Cher's hit song "Believe". Iglesias once stated that he initially came up with the lyrics of the song while taking a break from recording in London's Hyde Park. The song was released as the second single from Iglesias' debut English album Enrique in 2000. The song was successful, particularly in the U.S where it was Iglesias' second #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

"Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You)" is a song co-written by American pop singer Christina Aguilera, Paul Rein, Johan Aberg, Celebrity Status, Guy Roche, Shelly Peiken and Ron Fair for her debut album Christina Aguilera (1999). It was co-produced by Fair and Celebrity Status.
The song is about Aguilera eying a prospective boyfriend and declaring come on over baby... It was released as the album's fourth and final single on September 26, 2000 and it was the first single on which Aguilera had been given significant creative control. It peaked at number one in the U.S., and was very successful in other countries as well.

Nostalgia?? <:))
Then this post fulfilled its purpose ;)
